Shower screens, mixers and the small leaks found at Rouse Hill handovers

Why a loose screen is a safety item, and why a slow leak at handover needs fixing before you move in.

Rouse Hill 2155 · 24 March 2026

In short: Bathroom items at handover are often treated as finish work. Some are not: insecure glass and active leaks belong at the top of the list.

Glass that moves

A shower screen that shifts when pressed is not properly fixed. Glass under load can fail, so we list it as a safety hazard rather than a finish defect.

Water escaping the shower

On one Rouse Hill handover water was running out under the screen onto the bathroom floor. Gaps in sealant at junctions do the same more slowly.

Leaking mixers

A mixer leaking at the vanity was recorded on a 2026 handover. Water inside a cabinet swells particleboard and stains quickly, so it needs a plumber before you move in.

Sealant

Silicone at wet area junctions is a maintenance item over the years, but at handover it should be continuous and neat.

What to do

Ask the builder to fix the safety and leak items first and confirm in writing. A recheck visit can confirm them before the final claim.

FAQ

Questions Rouse Hill owners ask about this

Is a loose shower screen covered by warranty?

Yes, but it should be fixed before handover rather than after.

Is plumbing testing part of your work?

No. We report leaks that are visible on the day.

How do I know if a leak is serious?

Any leak inside a cabinet or under a screen should be fixed before occupation.

Should I run the shower during the inspection?

We may run water briefly where it is connected to see visible leaks; we do not pressure test.
